Blurry .m2ts playback

Hi folks, I hope I'm posting this in the right section. I have a simple problem which is blatantly obvious to see.

The first image is a snapshot I personally took from The Exorcist Blu Ray .m2ts file whilst the second is from the exact same scene via bluray.com website.

Mine is pretty awful in comparison so I am hoping pehaps some kind soul could give me a few pointers as to what settings I should or should not check/uncheck which will allow me to take snapshots of the quality seen in the bluray.com image (all player settings, v1.1.5 are untouched from installation)

Thanks for your time.

Its an ATI 1gb 5850.

I do have the hardware acceleration function (accelerated video output/overlay) disabled but that is that. Everything else is untouched.

What about when you activate the GPU ?

When activated some of the GPU settings within the Catalyst Control Center come into play (anti-aliasing, de-noising, etc) but as I have it turned off that doesn't seem to be the problem. My image above lacks the sharpness, colour, grain/noise, etc that is apparent in the watermarked shot.

From my limited knowledge my problem is probably related to VLC Player video/filter settings and it is them I am hoping for some more info on.

No, I mean VLC GPU activation.

No, I mean VLC GPU activation.

That's what I was referring to :)

When activated there is a slight blurring of the movie file and various other so called 'improvements' thanks to the GPU being used. Switched off the movie file is closer to the intended PQ but its still nowhere near as good as what you can see in that aforementioned watermarked image.

I meant GPU decoding in Input & codecs
