VLC for ipad - Video ok, soundtrack ok, but no dialogue

Postby yaso » 27 Nov 2010 21:30

I recently installed VLC for ipad. My OS is 4.2
The avi file plays video and background music, but I can't hear the dialogue between the actors. The xvid files are encoded with AC3 5.1, and my guess is that somehow the 5.1 is not converted to just 2-channel stereo on my ipad (play more than fine on my PC). Any hints?

Cheers.

Same thing is happening on my IPOD Touch latest gen.
Have background and other ambient sounds as well as music but zero spoken dialogue.

I did a little digging on Google, and i'm pretty sure it has to do with the the fact that whatever you're trying to play has more than 2 channel audio, am i correct?
was it a .vob straight from a dvd? if so, you should mix it down to two channels first.
