VLC 1.1.5

Just installed and re-installed twice - new version shows no video, sound only. Also locks up and only way to close is via task manager. However, the stop play button works correctly.

Went back to VLC 1.1.4 and all works great again.

Running WinXP SP3 Pro box.

Any ideas please?

installed fine for me ( win 7 64 bit), over v1.12 - but please clarify

is is necessary / recommended to tick - delete previous version

and/or to tick delete prefs & cache

when updating from a v1+ version

i ticked neither, everything appears to have worked, and my customised controls were preserved ;-)

i did see the rebuilding font cache - this will take less than a few minutes.... on 1st usage though - is that normal ?

Similar problems: Video does not work.

I downloaded/installed VLC 1.1.5 on Nov 15, using av older PC. Sound could be heard, but there was no graphics (black screen) when I tried to play an DVD (Don Carlos, Orch de Paris /A Pappano) When I tried to voiew at clips taken from DVDs using read buttom recording video tracks using VLC 1.0, I had to restart the computer because Windows sent a message sying that graphics drive routine 1almint5 did not work well

Sound could be heard, but there was no graphics (black screen)
Try to enable or disable some video options such as Overlay and/or Hardware YUV -> RGB conversions.
Also try to use another video output module.

Thanks Lotusdelere for your hints. I have not tested these yet.
Under meanwhile I installed successfully VLC 1.1.5 on another 5 or 6 year old PC running XP called CWESPRIMO.
Tested DVD and testfiles are same as used running Arne 2
(I do'nt use CWESPRIMO for music because this PC produces a disturbing background noise)

Windows version crashes when trying to transcode VP6/AAC Shoutcast streams. Reverted to 1.0.5.
Mac version no longer crashes / closes when stopping RTSP streams- now crashes and stays open, must Force Quit.

Does this version give us any way to change the User Agent, or does that still require a full re-compile from source?

I think there is a bug in the version 1.1.5 and 1.1.4 too, I explain better:

with VLC 1.0.5 if i write this command line:
vlc -vvv --ttl 12 --ts-es-id-pid --programs=3301 dvb-t://frequency=490000000 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=WMV2,vb=384,scale=0.5,width=320,
height=240,acodec=wma2,ab=32,channels=2,samplerate=22500}:std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=192.168.2.4:1234/stream.asf}

I am able to see the stream on windows mobile media player, with this 1.1.5 i can't, i suppose something wrong it was added in this version.

Thank You for supply

I wonder, shouldn't this update be put on auto update since it contains a security fix? Then again with the mixed reports in this thread whether the update is working correctly or not, I'm not sure. Anyway Secunia PSI is telling me that VLC is out of date with a security issue to be fixed, while VLC v1.1.4 tells me that it's up-to-date when searching for updates.

The "next frame" command (shortcut e) often causes the player to freeze up after ten or so presses.
Was also the case with 1.1.4.

Why is nobody sending a patch to implement that?
