Setting display window resolution

Hi, when I start VLC media player, and open my webcam the display is awful. Very ""blocky".
Tools/Codec information gives a resolution on only 160*120. There must be some easy way to correct this but I don't know how.
Other programs (eg. Skype or Debut) that use the webcam show really high resolution, so I guess the problem must be in the VLC settings.
Any help gratefully received. I'm not yet familiar with this program, and can't find an appropriate setting to change.
Thank You.

Thank You. But I don't know which ones to change, and to what.
I've looked under the advanced options and tried typing a value e.g. 800*600 size into the box, but it says that video web cam does to support it.
I guess it's simple once you know how. Thanks again.

Hi. Got it. Setting needed to be 640*400. I guess the Video camera will not support any higher resolution.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Problem solved.

Hi, Another question.
Can I set that resolution as a default for the webcam so I don't have to set it each time I open the program?
