VLC on iPHONE Audio/Video sync (streaming)

I discovered that VLC will play live rtsp:// streaming data. Fantastic. Tested on IPhone 3Gs and iPhone4 with 200kb and 1Mb streams. One observation though, and perhaps the developers can shed some light on this. The stream does not seem to be able to resync the audio and video once it drifts apart. On desktop systems some information in the dataflow seems to be able to tell the desktop app to drop frames until the audio and video resync - on the iphone VLC app it does not appear to do this.

Also pausing the stream with the Play/Pause button and restarting results in loss of audio for a considerable time, maybe 30-60seconds before the audio is restored to the playback stream.

The streams were encoded using x264encoder, encoded with wirecast and bounced off a quicktime streaming server. Playback on mac desktop with QT and VLC were stable and synced. (the encoded streams were using B frames)

Are these re-syncing and restarting issues something that can be addressed in the iphone app?
