Problems saving stream to file with VLC 1.1.4

Postby cool.bambus » 24 Oct 2010 23:40

Hi there,

I have been googling this for quite a while, but don't seem to be able to find a solution...
All I am trying to do is the following: I have got the URL address of an internet stream, open it with VLC player (playing the stream works fine), and then I would like to save the stream to a file on hard disk. This last point is the one thing that does not work.
I have tried the following: Ctrl-N to open the network stream, but then I can't see any option to save the stream to a file...

I am using VLC player 1.1.4 on Windows XP.

Thanks for your suggestions and help!
James

Right, this seems to work.
But where is the file stored? Can I specify / be prompted for a filename?

Thanks,
James

Thanks again for your help!
Anyway, I still can't find the relevant setting in the preferences. Please tell me where exactly this is located.
Thanks!
James

I have to tweek my files -- usually just contrast, saturation and some sharpening -- but I can't figure out how to save the files after making these changes. Can this be done, and if so can someone post the procedure?

Thanks,
Jack Greenberg

I too would like to know where the recorded files are saved at. I can't find any option in the preferences for the file path. I'm hoping that using this method for saving a stream could solve the problem I'm having doing it another way (has it's own thread).

A very happy new year to all.

I have finally figured it out where the files are stored.

They are stored in My Documents folder of your C:\ Drive labeled as VLC Record with the date and time. It will be in asf format. You will have to convert it in mp3 or mp4 as per your requirement. You can have more informaiton on the video recording as well by visiting the following site

Cheers & have fun
