VLC MPEG4 output bug

Using VLC convert or streaming function and choosing MPEG4 video format and avi container the output file cannot be read from a standard home MPEG4 DVD Player.
Error: invalid file
So this seems to be a VLC MPEG4 output bug.
Please fix it.
