MPEG-TS on iPad

I'm author of erlyvideo — videostreaming server. I want to stream live event on iPad without horrible delay. Apple HTTP Live Streaming implementation has non-reduceable 15 seconds delay.
I want to use VLC on iPad for streaming MPEG-TS directly to it. Is it possible somehow to ask VLC to play MPEG-TS url from network via HTTP?

Playback of network streams isn't supported in the current release of VLC for iPad, but will probably be added as soon as the most important issues discovered in the initial release are fixed. Playing MPEG-TS encapsulated files is already possible, so I don't see any reason why http support couldn't be added too. There will be a minimal delay of 1 sec like in the desktop VLC. No warranty on the latency though

We are developing a streaming video product and currently use the Windows VLC player to received streamed data on a laptop. I would love to see the Network Streaming feature ported to the iPad. It would make a much sleeker demo. Very excited about this!
