No album art or track listings for CD?

Installed VLC 1.1.4. CDDB server is set to freedb.freedb.org at the default port, but not getting any CD info. Doesn't even look like VLC is trying to make an outbound connection to freedb.org, based on TCPview. Any ideas? (This is on Windows XP, but I don't see that this is relevant.) Thanks.
