Problems on streaming on LAN.

Postby NicolaCasini » 20 Sep 2010 00:56

I have 2 pc:
1. Running WinXP, is the server.
2. Running Win7, is the client.

VLC version is both 1.0.5.

I want to stream a file from server to client.

I go to VLC in server. I do this passages:

1. Media -> Streaming.
2. Add -> a DivX .avi File.
3. I click on "Stream".
4. "Next"
5. New destination: HTTP, i click on "Display Locally" (i need this), and then on "Add".
6. In address box i put the ip on the server, right? 192.168.16.70 , i leave 8080 as port.
7. I disable "acrivate transcoding";
8. Next.
9 I set TTL as 3, because the client is under a router and 2 switch.
10. I click on stream, and the streaming starts.

In client VLC i do this:

1. Open network stream.
2. Protocol: HTTP.
3. Address: 192.168.16.70:8080
4. Play.

I receive this error:

Code: Select all

Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://192.168.16.70:8080'. Check the log for details.
The pc are in communication, I had some network disk on the server that I use, I use VNC, Remote Desktop and so on..
What i do wrong?

Sorry for my poor english,
best regards,
Nicola.
