Losing audio in conversion to .mp4

Postby UnexplainedBacon » 19 Sep 2010 20:53

Hello!

I am a fairly new VLC user and I'm having an issue that seems to be the reverse of many posts on the boards. I am trying to convert a WMV file to a MP4 file, and while the video converts perfectly, I lose the audio track completely. Doing a search of the boards I see many people who have the reverse problem - audio but no video.

Is this a setting issue? Am I missing a codec or something? I am able to play many ripped DVDs that I have for my iPod, though I note the file extenstions for those is .m4v (MPEG-4 Video File). Not sure if thats different than a straight .mp4

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PS - running Windows 7 64-bit on a home built machine, Core2Duo at 3.0Ghz, 4GB of RAM.

Nevermind. Used Hand Brake instead and it worked like a charm.
