I use DVDAuthor on Ubuntu to make DVD from video clips. I then use VLC to play it. I started doing this on Ubuntu Jaunty where VLC version is 9.9a, and everything worked fine.
Now I upgrade to Ubuntu Lucid with VLC 1.0.6. Then I noticed that VLC image freezes a couple of seconds before a clip is about to end. While the image is freezing, the progress bar is still moving. So it skips the end of the clip and go straight to the beginning of the next clip. Sometimes it freezes a little longer that it missed part of the beginning of the next clip. The freeze became more apparent if I fast forward it (x4, x8). It then freezes a long time before unfreeze.
Another problem is that when I forward to the next chapter, it sometimes skips the first clip of the chapter.
Since it is a little harder to install VLC 1.14 on my Ubuntu lucid, I tried VLC 1.1.4 on Windows and found the same problem as well. I then installed VLC 0.9.9, I do not see the problem. So the problem seems to be introduced some version after 0.9.9.
