Can the playlist be saved on exit, including position?

Subject pretty much says it all. I would like to build a playlist of videos, and when I exit, i want that playlist, as well as the current position to be saved, and then loaded when start up VLC again.
Does VLC support this? If not, is there another player out there that does?
