Can anyone please tell me how to play my cctv footage the right way up? It plays all cctv footage only, upsidedown. This does not happen on Windows Media Player and any other media footage.

There's a rotation options under Tools -> Effects and Filters -> Video Effects. Check the "Transform" box and select "Rotate by 180 degrees." You can do this before or after you open the video. (If that doesn't fix it, try the other rotation options until the image looks correct.)

There may also be a rotation option in the settings for the camera itself.

Thank you ooterness for your help. The problem is when I rotate it 180 degrees it comes out inverted. Wish I can flip it at the same time as rotating it 180 degrees. I do not want to tamper with the camera settings because all footage is the right way up in other media players.

Thank you all for your help. Yes, vertical flip does work. But actually I want to know is how to keep those settings permanent for all cctv footage. Computer cctv footage are in many segments and I have to keep going through the process of flipping for all the footage that I wish to view. That does not explain also, why only VLC media player have this problem? All the best to everyone in solving our problems.

What is the file format?

Sorry I am not more precise and specific on my questions. I am still a computer novice. The file format is AVI-. When I click on properties it says VLC media file (.mp4) Hope this will help. Thanks to all.

Sorry, I was hoping that you could tell me. When I save it from the cctv folder it is clearly AVI. But when I play it on VLC or edit it on VLC and click on properties it states VLC media file in brackets (mp4). Is VLC saving or converting avi files to mp4 by default? My main concern though is not what file it is in, so long I can play and edit everything the right way up in the first place.
