Automatic screencapping

Hello, I've been trying [unsuccessfully] to auto cap for awhile. Most tutorials refer to image output which is now Scene filter. These are the steps I've taken. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm using the latest version I believe, v.1.0.3.

1) Open VLC, go to Preferences > Video > Output modules > Scene filter

2) I tinkered with it to my liking, settings below.

Scene video filter

Image format: png
Image width : -1
Image height: -1
Filename prefix: cap-
Directory path prefix: blank
Always write to the same file: unchecked
Recording ration: 10

3) I clicked save.

4) In Windows Explorer, I dragged an mp4 file and it began playing. I've read several places that no video is supposed to appear, only sound. I got/get sound and video. Alternatively, I clicked on Media > Open File. I've also tried various file types.

5) No files appear anywhere. I've tried unique filename prefixes and they don't appear anywhere.

I've consulted the following tutorials, to no avail.
