Hello,
I use VLC for several things, but amog them one is important. It makes possible to turn my computer into a TV device. This comes from a feature supplied by my ISP, which brodcasts main TV channels from the internet. This ISP is free in France.
For doing this, the FAI uses the RTSP protocol.
It's relatively difficult to use, mainly on a local networrk.
When used on a local network, the PC turned into a TV device must have a fixed IP address, the RTSP protocol must use a fixed port number and the router must route this port to the right IP address.
All this is complicated, but if everything is done, it works. Or let's say, worked.
I changed my computer, and I installed diverse softwares on it and of course VLC. But the last version. 1.1.2, and ... nothing, this did not worked. VLC could not access the video RTSP source.
I just took a previous version which was recorderd in my archives, the version 0.9.2 and ... ful success, with the same configuration.
So that I temporarily solved my problem, but there seems to be something wrong in the new version. If it is fixed in the next one, I'll have the opportunity to be on date with this software.
Best regards.
