VLC 1.0.1 ATI TV Wonder 650 -dshow NO audio

Wondering if someone might help me with proper settings so that I can acquire audio.
I'm running VLC 1.0.1 Goldeneye w/ATI TV Wonder 650
OS is WinXP
I have K-Lite 5.3.0 full codecs installed
Laptop is Dell Latitude D610 -no idea if any of this is relevant...
When I go to Media/OpenCaptureDevice/Directshow/ATIcard...
I am able to select Cable and Composite and see the streaming VIDEO perfectly, but NO AUDIO.
At one point I had a setting, no clue what, and I DID have BOTH video & audio, but the video was kind of altered so I messed with the settings.
NOW I've played with every setting I can think of to get the audio back and nada.
I've tried leaving audio to default, ati, sigmatel. I've tried option to link streams...tried changing channels urggg
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Apologize if this topic was addressed previously, but I didn't see any old posts concerning audio only video.
