Editing and Joining a home movie

Hi I am brand new on here.So I'm not sure where to post this question.I have a video of a wedding that I took on an old camcorder.I have it saved in my computer.it is in 3 segments though.Will VLC join the video together.and also will it edit all the bad parts.I do have a converter so i can convert to burn it after to a disk

VLC is not an editor.
You may want to try something like AviDemux.
