How can I access VLC through web browser?

It's probably dummy question.... but I would really appreciate it if somebody can help me.

I read about http interface(web interface) feature that let you access VLC on your computer from another computer through a web browser.
It explains that I need to go to VLC View-Add Interface-Web interface and click it on the computer I wanna access to, and just type IP address and port# into any browser on the second computer
to access it.
Does this mean that If I click on View-Add Interface-Web interface in VLC on my computer, any computers even outside of my network( any computers in the world) can all access my player through a web browser as long as they have VLC player and my IP number? If that's how it works, then it's too unsafe to use....
I don't have my second computer to test right now, so If anybody can provide an answer for me, I would appreciate it!

Thank you

Thank you for your reply.
However I still can't figure out that whether if I just click on VLC view- add interface- web interface will allow any computers to access to a player on my computer and files on my computer through
a web browser over the internet.
This link explains about HTTP interface and says you can access playlist and files and so on.....http://www.videolan.org/doc/play-howto/ ... l#id501790
Do I need to set up which computer I will allow to access to my player through web browser? or any computer can access?

sorry Im little confused. If anybody knows about that, please let me know.

Thank you
