Greetings. This afternoon when I still had sound, I played a .FLV file with my VLC player(latest version). There was no sound when the file played, but sound wasn't important at the time so I disregarded it. Upon completion of the .flv file I noticed that as I tried to run another .flv file using my regular flv player, I had no audio at all. I tried various mp4, mp3, wmv, mpg, avi files and realized that I had no audio whatsoever anymore. None, regardless of what format or player I chose. That is the situation now as I write this 4 hours later. My Creative 24 bit sound blaster card is dead in the water, and there was nothing wrong with it before I ran the flv file through the vlc player. This has happened before and I was always able to get the audio working again, but this time, nothing I do works on restoring the audio. When I ran the Creative diagnostics program, it doesn't find anything wrong. All the settings are as they're supposed to be. I simply have no sound anymore emanating from my sound card. As I tried everything I could think of(including re-booting and re-setting all of my audio options to their defaults), I decided to give this forum a try and see if anyone can point me in the right direction. Here are my system specs:
Win/XP Pro fully updated, Creative Sound Blaster 24 bit sound card(with the latest driver), 128mb ATI video card, 1gb ram
Thanks for whatever help anyone can provide.
