Audio problem

The strangest thing has happened to my VLC recently. Up until yesterday everything was working perfectly fine. I have hundreds of videos on my computer/external and not one has had an audio issue, but then yesterday I was watching one and the audio was out of sync. I thought nothing of it and just used to manual audio delay adjustments to try and fix it before I gave up and went to bed. Today I tried to watch something else, and the audio is out of sync again. I try to adjust the audio delay, but it was already on "0" so the adjustments from last night didn't save or anything. I decide to see if it's a coincidence and try a few other videos, and all of them are also out of sync until I try them on Windows Media Player and they work fine. Obviously it's something specific to VLC. I assume I did something since it was working fine until yesterday, but for the life of me I have absolutely no idea what. I didn't start to adjust the audio until after I noticed something wrong (unless I pressed something by mistake, not even realising it). Help! Thank you.

I also tried reinstalling VLC, but the problem persisted.
