Number in fullscreen

Hi,
This is probably is really stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway.

VLC has started showing a number (usually alternating between 24 and 25 in red and yellow respectively) in the top right hand corner of the video ( not the screen) as shown in this photo:

How do I get rid of it as it is particularly annoying?

[note: I don't believe I have actually changed any of the settings, and I have also tried reinstalling to no avail.]

That's the frame rate. You can try to reset your VLC preferences, but I suspect the value is shown by your video driver, not VLC.
