Stream to RTMP Update

I am very interested in getting VLC to output to RTMP, but all the other topics are 2 years old. Where does it stand now? Is there an easy way to obtain a version of VLC that can?

From old topics people say that the nightly builds have them, is that still true? If so then why hasn't it been implemented in the main release yet?

VLC does not support RTMP output.
