Best way to suppress an audio or video portion?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Best way to suppress an audio or video portion?

Postby jbellies2 » 14 Apr 2010 19:58

Newbie question: I suppose there is more than one command line option to play a file and suppress (not show) its video (set the screen display size to 0x0 ?) or audio (set the bitrate to zero?), but what is the best (least overhead for vlc/CPU) way to do each of these tasks?

Thank you.

--no-video, --no-audio
Elegant. Thank you! Also work as extensions in playlists.
