Video stopped before end

Hi!
I have edited a video (not with VLC) and exported it. The file format and codec I chose was always different, but there is always the same problem: When I try to play it with VLC, the thing that moves through the seeking bar (don't know how it's called
) reaches the end and the video stops, but there's still 1 second or so of video. However, if I play the video with Windows Media Player, the seeking bar reaches the end (at a point before VLC does), but the video continues playing until the end.
I must admit that I don't know whether the problem is at VLC, WMP, or the video editing software (most likely it's the video editing software, but as I said I already tried out every possible option).
Thanks for your time!
