ok heres my problem, first it does involve mkv files on Windows Vista (I have no idea if it's window related or not), second yes i did look at the wiki, no it didn't help me. When I try and load mkv files into vlc when the first show is over all I get is a black screen, not only that but I can't manually load the file, ie clicking load next or by double clicking in the playlist. Also it doesn't fully close forcing me to use task manager to make sure that it really is closed. I have no problem opening them one at a time but not being able to use the playlist feature is inconvenient, it's hard to fall asleep watching your shows if you have to get up every half hour. I have never had this problem before and any other file format I try seems to work fine, as far as I know it was working fine before I updated to 1.05 or whatever you latest version is.

I'm getting the same problem too. Running W7. When the timeline reaches the end, the video stops and VLC "freezes". You can still move the timeline but it doesn't move anymore nor show video or audio. I can't select a new video from the playlist and can't play a new video from elsewhere. I can close the VLC player, but the program will still run in the frozen state. So I have to do what D-Thief does and force quit from the task manager.

Using 1.05 VLC. I'll try downgrading to see if it fixes the problem in the meantime.

I too am having this issue. I run Windows 7 latest version, I can load any file in the playlist with no issues. But after going to the latest version of VLC Player, the playlist causes the player to freeze and I have to use the Task Manager to close down the player. Otherwise it will sit there forever and not do anything.

As others have mentioned, it only happens when using the mkv files. Everything else seems to work fine with no problems. I really hope this issue can be corrected, as 90% of my files are mkv

so no help at all.... not even a we'll look into it.
