Deactivating Streaming Capture

Postby jusjubus » 19 Feb 2010 20:50

I work in a university language lab and we want to switch over from Quicktime to VLC as our player for the audio and video materials that we have on our website. We have a number of Macs running OS X and PCs on XP. The issue is that, due to copyright issues that we have to deal with, we can't have students capturing the video streaming from our server onto external hard drives that they can then have for private use. Does anyone know if there's a way to install VLC so that it's just the player -- without the ability to capture the stream? Or, barring that, a way to disable that feature?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
