DVD Menus from harddisk

Hello,

I have always had the problem with VLC that when I have a DVD on my harddisk (VIDEO_TS folder), menu navigation does not work.
As a result I can't set the subtitle language correctly on the DVD's main menu, so every time when the next .VOB file is openened when playing a movie, subtitles are disabled again and I must choose the subtitle file again from the VLC menu bar. Quite annoying...
In general some hotkeys do seem to work and some don't. I have no clue why.

I can't find a solution to this in the forums, and quess it's not OS related, so I'm trying to get help by making a new topic here.
Many thanks in advance for any help!

OS: Windows 7 x64
VLS Version: 1.05 (tried every version from 1.0 and up)

Additional info: I Just tried making an .ISO file from the folder with IMGBURN and then opening the .ISO file instead of the folder: Then the menus do work!

You should open the IFO file, not the VOBs.

You may also open a VIDEO_TS or folder holding one properly as a dvd from the vlc side by going Media -> Open Disc -> and then browse to the folder or VIDEO_TS itself.

That will ensure proper navigation, ect.

Thank you for your replies!

@mc2man: That tip worked great! Instead of opening folder from 'open folder', opening it from 'open disc' works!

I do find it quite unintuitive in the user interface, that 'open disc' lets you open a folder...
Maybe it's a good idea to improve this in future versions? E.g. by adding 'open folder as disc' or something like that?

Thank you again for the quick @ good support!

I have the same problem, except mine is not fixed when I open it as a disc or folder. It plays the menu for like .001 seconds and then closes back up to the default vlc size. Any suggesions?
