Bad size for GXF file

Postby kao_chen » 09 Feb 2010 18:19

Hello!
When I try to read a GXF file, VLC displays many lines above the image.
The codec information panel indicate a biggest resolution of my file. The media is a standard definition media, 720x576, but VLC detect 720x608.
I need to activate the automatic crop video filter to display a good resolution. In manual mode I need to indicate this crop option: 720 x 576 + 0 + 32.

I have made tests with different versions of the player (1.03-1.05-1.1git) on different operating system (MacOSX- XP-Ubuntu) and I used different files provides by different sources.
I use a GXF file created by a Thomson Grass Valley News Edit, but I have the same problem with this examples: http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/GXF/

I don't known if it's a bug of VLC or ffmpeg, I want to be sure before openning a ticket.
Thanks

It's the same problem with Smplayer too. I don't know if it's my grass valley machine who don't wrote the good resolution, or if it's the codec who don't read it correctly.
According to this document : http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=GXF
I can try to read the resolution size with an hexadecimal reader or something like that, but I don't known how to proceed.
I have try with an hexadecimal reader but I couldn't found the resolution.

I have got it !

In Grass Valley News Edit options, I discover a strange adjustment for the IMX format video.
By default, NewsEdit adopt the resolution 720*608 and I can't change it.

I don't know how the other software do to interpret the good resolution (720*576).
So I have to find a other way to export my videos.

Thank for your attention.
Bye
Kao
