Elapsed playing time does not advance on streamed playbacks

Hi,

Short description: I am using VLC (win32 ver.1.0.3) to view streamed video (MPEG-4 using RTSP + RTP, sometimes over HTTP) segment that I pre-recorded using a camera. I supply a URL targeted at an installed Darwin Streaming Server indicating which specific segment of video I am interested. Video is played perfectly, plus overall time of the segment is shown and hints as I hover with the mouse over the timeline, are shown correctly (please refer to the RTSP sniff at the end of post).

Problem: The elapsed time of the currently played second does not advance, i.e. constantly showing 00:00/00:30. Moreover, but probably caused by the same problem, clicking the timeline does not send a pause / play RTSP command to the server in order to restart the playing at the requested time.

Question:
1. Is it something that I am not configuring right at the VLC? or is it affected by something from the RTSP / RTP / RTCP messaging?
2. Is there a way (other than through the title) to show at the played timeline or timers the original absolute time of the recording? In other words, showing 21:35:00-21:36:00 rather than the normal 00:00:00-00:01:00? (I have tried using various values at the Range attribute of the RTSP response as well as the a=range, t attributes of the SDP of the DESCRIBE RTSP response).
