How to get more advanced video settings?

As a compatibility with FFDShow has unfortunately been said to be unlikely even in future versions of VLC, how do I get similar advanced settings then? Are there addons of this kind? In my case, I'm missing a feature to manipulate contrast with a graph - possible in FFDshow settings but not in VLC.

Sorry, you cannot in VLC. So, if it is not coded in VLC, you have to code or find someone to code it for you.
