Can VLC play PAL video at 24 fps?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Can VLC play PAL video at 24 fps?

Postby franl » 12 Jan 2010 19:59

I searched the documentation about this but found nothing. Is there any way to tell VLC to play PAL video at 24 frames per second instead of 25 fps? I'm trying to avoid the infamous "PAL speedup", in which a movie in PAL format is 4% shorter in duration than the same movie in NTSC format.

Finally, I'd like to offer a big "Thank You" to all the VLC developers for creating such a useful and fun application!

Set the playback rate to 0.96.

With version 1.1.0,

Code: Select all

vlc --rate 0.96
does just that. I don't know about older versions.

Thank you, but where do I get version 1.1.0? It is not available via the Download page on the VideoLAN Web site. Is it a beta version perhaps?
