I see the record button and I know what record means. But why is there nothing in the help files. I looked through the wiki files and faq. Please someone send me to the record info page. And please remember that I'm a newb.
I mean like where is the recorded file kept? Can I change the format that is being recorded?
Please some recording with VLC for dummies would be nice.

Thank you!

On Windows in %appdata%\My documents
Can I change the format that is being recorded?
No you can't, not when using the record button. The recording is done in the native format of the source but you can transcode afterwards.

(I had this really great post all about VLC and its' record button.) Then I hit some key on my keyboard and lost it all.

I have looked all around for more information concerning the full function of the record button. I recorded a video from a file on my C: drive. And then did a full search of that drive and only found the original file. I look in the file where I was told it would be but no luck.

Is this button only to record input from a TV card or a Video camera?
If there is more info about this button and its functions please tell me where to go.

Thanks.
