MP4 Playback laggs badly on a S100 STB

Hi,

I'm using a S100 Set-Top-Box as multimedia-centre, using vlc for the video playback.
I got a lot of videos in the mp4-format, which I prefer, as it gives a good compromise between filesize and audio/subtitle-features.
Unfortunately the playback of the videos is really laggy (about 1 frame every 5 seconds ...). the audio does fine.
The STB just got a 733 celeron cpu and 128MB ram, so I suppose its a hardware issue? the vids play fine on my notebook and so do .avi videos on the stb. its just the mp4-files that suck.

thanks for any advise!

so I assume its a hardware issue, as the faq says that usually a bad cpu is responsible for lagging video frames ?!

but if someone could verify this thesis i'd be quite happy respective unhappy ...

thanks and a happy new year everyone!

You need to check all the connections you made on the set top box. Can you explain the steps you followed ? Also as reference have a look at this tutorial explaining what needs to be done in order to properly connect the set top box for video playback: http://www.thehdstandard.com/streaming- ... top-boxes/

Hi,

it is not running as a Set-Top-Box anymore. I use it as a completely passive cooled computer ...
Maybe there is any chance to get it working with resetting the cache or s.th.?

Thx
