The developer of Freenet has launched another Open Source project,
the Dijjer project is free P2P software that dramatically reduces the bandwidth needed to host large files. ( Similiar to Bittorrent. )

Dijjer works with "live" NSV, MP3 and Ogg media streams. I have not tested windows media audio / video or theora video streams.

You must install the latest version of Dijjer : http://www.dijjer.org
( windows, linux and mac version available. )

Shoutcast NSV stream using VLC media player.
> Open File
> Media resource locator - insert this test url :
http://www.dijjer.org/get/http://24.207.26.60:8080

Shoutcast MP3 audio stream in VLC media player.
> Open File
> Media resource locator - insert this test url :
http://dijjer.org/get/http://65.220.67.14:9113

Icecast OGG audio stream in VLC media player.
> Open File
> Media resource locator - insert this test url :
http://dijjer.org/get/http://stream.oye ... dio404.ogg

I have set up a demonstration area for both audio ( Ogg - MP3 ) and video ( NSV - Theora ) streams. You must have a broadband internet connection.

You need the latest version of VLC and Dijjer installed.
