bin/cue files to SVCD: VLC won't play?

Hi there,
any advice would be very much appreciated. I recently tried burning a bin/cue file onto a CD in SVCD format. I've done this before with the same setup, with no problem. The burning seemed to go fine, but when I tried to play the result, I got this:
vcd: could not read block 356
vcd: could not read sector 356
ps: cannot peek()
I tried burning a couple of times at different speeds, with the same result. I am on Mac OS X (Panther), and used Toast 6 to burn, and was trying to view with VideoLan 0.6.2. My n00bie guess is that there's a subtle flaw in the original bin file which needs correcting, but I could easily be wrong! The original bin file plays perfectly in VideoLan, so the flaw can't be that bad. I have no idea how to correct this flaw either. If the software needed is for Windows then that is OK, as I have virtualPC.
Anyway, thanks for any help!
