Override subtitles styles

I've just downloaded a subtitles pack (200+) but there are crappy pink outline and ugly letter-spacing. Does VLC has something like "style override" because changing styles for the whole pack is rather frustrating. Thank you.

What is the format?

Sorry for the delay. The format is *.аss.
P.S. The problem is not about VLC rendering, but the embedded styles I dislike. For example KMPlayer totally ignores embedded styles and displays subtitles according to the general settings.

So far, I think you cannot do anything with VLC.
