I need help with video problems

Postby Mattn » 18 Nov 2009 18:16

I've been using the VLC player for awhile now and it's always worked great but recently the videos I've been trying to play haven't been working well can anyone tell me how to fix it or why they might not be working? There both anime videos one of the series freeze and parts and starts getting big distorted blocks on the video. The other series I tried playing works fine but when it gets to about 1 min 20 seconds in the video it automatically restarts the video I tried all 24 episodes and they all do the same thing. I don't think its the files because I've tried playing them on a different video player and they work fine on that one. If anyone has any idea why they might not be playing right please let me know from what I can tell their both H264 .mkv files

Also If I disable the video track it wont loop back to the start at around 1 min 20 seconds to replay that section again it will keep going on in the video playing the sound I'm not sure if the video isn't compatible or something?

If I disable the video track then click past the area were it resets (around 1 min 20 seconds) then re-enable the video track it plays past the part just fine though.

Doing ^ that doesn't work anymore.

Is there anyway to type in a certain time of the video you want to go to?

I found the problem I needed a certain codec but now how do I use that codec on the VLC media player?
