VLC is one of the few (if not only) media players to support soft (selectable) subtitles (VobSub sub/idx format) muxed into an MKV file.
When playing the video, however, the color is stripped from the inside of the lettering. The outline of the lettering is black. In the original video the inside of the lettering is colored.
1. The MKV file was transcoded and muxed in HandBrake .9.3 (burning in only forced subtitles}
2. The .idx/.sub files coded by VobSub 2.23 by Gabest
3. The Final MKV re-muxed with mkvmerge GUI 2.9.8
(HandBrake svn 2907 now has an option to skip last 2 steps, but the result is the same in VLC)
When playing the file, if I manually load the individual .sub/.idx files, the subtitles look fine and have color (so it is not the VobSub files). Also if I burn them into the video file with HandBrake (step 1) they also look right and have color.
Is this an issue with VLC or am I doing something wrong?
Is there a work-around for this?
Thank You in advance for you reply
