Help recording Stream Torrent

Hi, I'm trying to record a Stream Torrent feed.

I open and play the copied url from Stream Torrent in VLC - no prob.
I then hit the record button and after a while I see the saved file (vlc-record-... .asf) in my videos folder- no prob.
After say 10 minutes I stop the recording.
But when I open the saved file it has a duration of 0 secs.
What am I doing wrong?
