Extracting SPU subtitles

There is a MPEG-PS file with two subtitles tracks (SPU, as reported by VLC 1.0.2). No other player sees these tracks, only VLC.
I want to change container of this file to make other players recognize subtitles (such as mkv or ogm). But every time I'm trying to use transcode I get a file with subtitle tracks missing. How can I extract these tracks from my video? Other tools are useless reporting no subtitle tracks.

What is the SPU codec? Are you sure MKV and OGG even support that codec?

Not sure if mkv and ogg support SPU subtitles codec. Also cannot find any information about it.
All films in mkv that I have content subtitles in 'subt' codec.
Don't know what to do:( It seems to me that the only way to get subtitles from the file is to copy them right from the screen while whatching the film. Luckily, it lasts only 24 minutes.

Any other ideas?

Oh you mean the codec is 'spu '? That's the DVD subtitle format, which is bitmap, not text. VLC can put that inside MPEG containers (TS or PS), possibly Matroska (not sure). For sure, not in OGG.

But how can I extract this from my movie? Or just make a DVD where subtitles can be turned on.

If some piece of software does not understand SPU's in MPEG-PS, it probably won't understand them in any other formats.
