Weird situation

Postby ArkKnightz » 06 Nov 2009 16:56

When i play a .mvk file using vlc media player,it stops at some time, which always stops at 4~6 mins.It didn't happen when i play with other fomat videos.I tested with windows media player and confirmed my .mkv videos do not have any problems, only when played with vlc media player,it stops, or rather, restarts the video from 00.00 when it reached 4~6 mins of playback time. Is there a problem with the player?Or is it a problem with my computer itself?

By the way the video file is a Blue-Ray video.

Well we need more informations:
Which version of VLC are you using ?
What is your OS ?
What is your hardware ?
What tools have you used for making the video ?
What are the audio and video codecs used ?
What are the resolution and the bitrate of the streams ?

And also post the messages log with verbosity set to 2.

I have been having the same problem with all my anime torrents that i get in mkv format
It has happened on my Vista, 64bit Vista and XP school laptop.
the version of VLC I'm using is 1.0.1.0
it's a 720p, HDTV, x264, AAC 5.1 video
codecs used:
SSA for subs
AVC1 for video
mp4a for audio
my 64 bit vista has 8 Gb swap and 4 Gb ram and a quadcore CPU 2667 MHz clock speed
hope these bits of information help

the version of VLC I'm using is 1.0.1.0
Update to v1.0.3.
SSA for subs
Post a short sample of the problematic file.

same error with 1.0.3
every episode of this anime that is in mkv format restarted after about 70 seconds, but other than that, it playes perfectly.
also, you can keep going in the movie if you drag it to the 3 min mark, but you miss the 1:10 - ~3:00 part of the video.
