I'm having pretty much the same error, and I'm also fairly new to Linux. My first thought was to seek out some of those modules it complained about, but then I noticed that libcdio is one of the rpms in the vlc directory. What's the difference between that and libcdio.so.0? What's the solution to getting vlc installed?
Thanks

did you try clicking on the rpm?
if there a libc.rpm click on it and it may install libc.so
