Small hickups in VLC 1.0.2

Postby mascalpone » 24 Oct 2009 12:39

I have the following observation: Some, not all, .TS files taken from my sat recvr have small drop outs in video, sound seems unaffected. The result is that the picture seems to stall for a tiny moment and continues afterwards normally. This also happens with some, not all, files that play back ok originally, but after editing (start and end) with TSDoctor the problem also occurs. The problem was much worse with 1.0.1. Playing the affected files with Cyberlink Power DVD, GOM Player or through the sat rcvr does not show the problem. I can supply a sample if desired. Maybe the developers want to look into the problem for the next version of VLC.

@lotusdelere

thx for replying. I have experimented and found that increasing the CacheValue in <Extras – Setting/All – Input/Codecs – Access Module – File> to 2000 seems to solve the problem. Since I'm new at this, I have no idea what all these settings actually do. Hopefully this is a legitimate fix and doesn't cause other side effects. .

If you still like to get a sample, please let me know. But let me know how to do it. PM?
