Unable to forward .flv video files in VLC player

Postby sudhanshu_ » 19 Oct 2009 02:15

Hello everyone,
i have downloaded some video files which are in the .flv format.I am able to play the .flv video files in VLC player
but unable to go to a particular play time of video.i can pause it but after pausing when i drag the advance button to
some forward play time it fails to play from that point but goes back to the beginning of the video or simply stops playing
the file.

so i am unable to seek the desired play time of the video and can't forward-backword the .flv file while playing.
there exist option in menu>playback>jump to specific time in VLC player and i have tried it.it doesn't work.

also there exist menu>playback>jump forward or jump backward but it moves the play time only by 10 seconds at a time
and .flv files i am trying to play are of size 300-500mb of duration more than 2 hours and it makes no sense to backward or
forward by 10 seconds by going to menu.

i had to convert the media using Freedownloadmanager to avi format in order to backward/forward the file while viewing.

so any one of you know how to get around this and if you know of any media player which can do forward-backword with respect to
.flv files please let me know.i would like to skip realplayer.i have win xp but i am sure it's the case with all OS.

please let me know of your experience with .flv files and its playback.and comments and suggestions..help etc.
thanks.
