the player doesn't seem to work.no matter what type of files i play(.flv,.mp4,.wmv,.avi,.mpg,.mpeg,other) i only hear sound, but the screen is just black.i thought it might be brightness, but my screen is at 100% brightness.

hello Lotesdelere.
thank you for your reply.
1.xp 2nd. edition.
2.intell 2.(yeah i know it's old,but i can play those exact same videos on other players.)
3.no Graphics card.
4.this only seems to create more problems:
i tried to change the video output before, but no luck.
this time,i can only play avis in opengl video ouput.
all of a sudden a file called stream.yuv(177 MB.NO,IT'S NOT A TYPO.) showed up in my C

folder next to the video.
i looked in C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC,& got stream.yuv(343 MB.NO,IT'S NOT A TYPO.)
WTH,IS THIS A HUGE,HUGE VIRUS??????????????????????????
could you please explain?
hello endlessmoon.
thank you for your reply.
1.i don't know what this means:amino STB it trun out to be RTP problem.
2.which encoder/decoder would you recomend?
thank you both.

P.S.
does anyone know why there are 2 directx 3d video outputs?

2.intell 2.(yeah i know it's old,but i can play those exact same videos on other players.)
I guess you mean a Pentium II ? What is its speed ?

3.no Graphics card.
Erm you must have one and you surely have one.

this time,i can only play avis in opengl video ouput.
So you have a graphics card :)

all of a sudden a file called stream.yuv(177 MB.NO,IT'S NOT A TYPO.) showed up in my C

.YUV files are raw video streams. They are not viruses.
But why these files are created on your HDD I have no idea TBH.

2.which encoder/decoder would you recomend?
For doing what exactly ?

does anyone know why there are 2 directx 3d video outputs?
Because of coding reasons but it doesn't matter for the user, you can select any of them.

hello Lotesdelere.
1.yes,intel's Pentium II.(i was just too lazy to write the whole thing.)
speed:2.21.
ram:150mb(just in case.)
2.sorry,i really don't have a graphics card.(just whatever is built into the motherboard.)
like i said,"i can play those exact same videos on other players."
3.i get what stream.yuv are.i just don't understand why it's so huge?(343 MB that's not normal!!!)
4.codecs...that was a question to endlessmoon,but okay.
maybe he is onto something.
codecs are the ones who let you play "incoded"(like compresion) videos like divx-avi,mp3,& others.maybe this could help!?
5.i know you can select either of the 2 directx 3d video outputs, but it always moves to the second directx 3d video output.it's not really important.it just seems weird to me.(i get it,they must be different versions!?)
so any ideas how i can play "all" of the videos.

Usually the result of a Hardware Accelerator being used incorrectly. Turning it off should help.

hello Lotesdelere.
i tried that,but it doesn't seem to create a log.i don't know why.
hello burneggroll.
i turned off accelerated video output(overlay),windows decorations,& use hardware yuv-rgb conversions.there's no change.
OKAY,I GIVE UP.I'M UNINSTALLING VLC.
every 3rd. post on this forum is about video not playing.
considering how huge vlc is:71.6mb,584 files,146 folders,& those stupid 343 MB stream.yuv are.
it's not worth it.
even if i could colibrate gazillion different options for 1 video format.i would have to do the same for the next 1.
nooooo thank you.
i'll be back in about 6 months to see if vlc had worked out this mess.
thank you everybody for your help,& i'm very sorry i had wasted your time.
TO Lotesdelere:ESPECIALLY THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP.
