FTP by default?

Hi,

I have all my movies on a server. While browsing through the File Explorer on my server and clicking on a movie-file (avi, x264 etc etc) I want it to stream in FTP in my VLC and play the movie instead of opening "as usual".

What am I trying to do? Is it Video On Demand or how can I set it up?

Have a best weekend :o)

That is pretty easy, open VLC, In the menu, choose "open stream" paste the adress to the file and open!
(address to file can be somthing like: "192.168.2.2/movies/movie.avi" or "MY_computer/movies/movie.avi" or maybe if u have a DNS "myaddress.dns.org/movies/movie.avi"

Im trying to do somthing simmilar, i have loads of movies on a server, and i wanna have a website where i can c all the movies, and when i klick on them it shall open and start streaming...
usualy when u make a link to a file, it whants to download the movie first, thats my problem...

Hi there,
yes I know about that copy&paste stuff. But that isn´t what I want to do.

When I click on a file via Windows Explorer, placed at a server with a FTPserver active, and VLC starts to play it (as default player) I want it to stream via FTP instead of playing it "as usual".

How to solve that?

That's an issue with Explorer, not VLC. You need to configure the file extension such that VLC is started with the URL rather than with an Explorer-preloaded file.
