2.5 seconds delay over LAN

Postby tamiro44 » 15 Sep 2009 14:27

Hi all,
I have a problem:
My setup is: Hardware encoder streaming RTSP/RTP H.264 over the LAN to a PC with VLC 0.9.9.
I have 2.5 seconds delay at the target PC.
At the initOptions i've inserted RTSP-Chaching=1200ms, underneath that there performance problems.

What can i do? Is there a way to configure the VLC's decoder to reduce delay?

Thanks alot,
Tamir.

The decoder always uses minimal delay.

You mean that the ~2 seconds are intentionally inserted in decoder?

No. I mean there is no delay in the decoder that's not strictly needed from the decoding and the CPU power. But, yeah, h.264 may add delay as the video frames are re-ordered.
