playing dvds from harddisk including menu

Postby vlc-fan » 03 Jan 2005 00:41

hi,

how can I play an unencrypted dvd-directory (video_ts) from harddisk including menu-navigation - not just the vobfiles by themselfs?
I couldn't find a special option for this. By default vlc seems to be trying to access the directory like a dvd-drive...

thanx very much for an answer!

I'm having the same issue. WinDVD plays the hard disk copy correctly, i.e., including menus. hmmmm.

In Mac OSX you do like this but it should be similar in windows i guess

1.choose open disc in the file menu
2. choose VIDEO_TS folder
3. browse to the video_ts folder
4. watch the movie

hi,

thanx for the answer - sounds simple but - what do you mean by:

2. choose VIDEO_TS folder

is that an extra option? - because I seem to miss that option - I can choose between DVD(Menus), DVD, VCD, Audio CD - that's it.

I've tried to put a file url in the MRL-input and it plays every file it find in the specified directory but no menus :(

ps. I'm using Debian Linux if that makes a difference...

you need to enter the directory that contains the dvds. not the files within that directory. It's a bit more troublesome on windows. it doesn't have a "choose Video TS folder" option.

ok - thanx! - I got it now - atleast somewhat.

another system of mine _does_ play the directory with menus when I do like you said. Probably a different problem with the other system.

thanx again!
