Postby andreyk » 05 Aug 2009 17:56

Hi all,

Below link point to media source with AD and video clip
mms://IL3.cast-tv.com/TheMarker/giora_sarchenski.wmv

Windows Media Player playing both of them but VLS stop after the AD :(

How WMP handle above case and what is missing in VLC for success ?

Thank you in advance, Andrey

what is missing in VLC for success ?
Most likely the desire to pay licensing fees and protect the content

(( mplayer presents this little nuggent after the ad plays
Everything done. Thank you for downloading a media file containing proprietary and patented technology.

Why should we add that?

don't think you ever should, only suggesting what was "missing"

Sorry, I don't get what is missing.

The fact that MPlayer devs want to pollute your output with politicals messages does not tell me why we should add that in VLC.

The fact that the current mms stream is borken is a bug.

Hi all and thank for your responses

I discovered the problem using Windows Media Format 11 SDK while receiving the stream using IWMReader object.
While trying to understand the internals of the problem I found the same problem with VLC and also with other media players too.

In IWMReader on AD's end arrive WMT_END_OF_FILE (STREAM) event and nothing happen ahead.

Actual I don't have a experience with live media streams and using the SDK to minimize media related problems.
I will be happy if somebody can describe in couple words what is happen in my case with the stream.

Thanks a lot, Andrey

P.S. Just to remind you that Window Media player handle the stream perfect and show the both parts (AD + clip), not only first (AD). Also the stream isn't protected content.
